Air Fryer Roast Beef

Ingredients:

  • 1 (2-3 lb) beef roast (such as sirloin, ribeye, or top round)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary (or fresh, if preferred)
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (optional, for extra flavor)

Instructions:

  1. Prep the Beef:
    • Pat the roast beef dry with paper towels. This will help get a nice sear on the outside.
    • Rub the entire surface of the beef with olive oil to help the seasoning stick.
  2. Season the Roast:
    • In a small bowl, combine the minced garlic, onion powder, garlic powder, rosemary, thyme, salt, and pepper.
    • Rub this seasoning mixture evenly over the roast. If using Dijon mustard, spread it lightly over the meat before applying the seasoning for an extra layer of flavor.
  3. Preheat the Air Fryer:
    • Preheat your air fryer to 200°C (400°F) for about 5 minutes. This high heat will help you get a crispy crust on the outside of the roast.
  4. Sear the Roast:
    • Place the seasoned roast into the air fryer basket and cook for 5 minutes per side at 200°C (400°F). This will create a beautiful, browned crust.
  5. Lower the Temperature and Cook:
    • After searing both sides, lower the air fryer temperature to 180°C (350°F).
    • Continue to cook the roast for 45-50 minutes, depending on the size and thickness of the roast and your preferred level of doneness (for medium-rare, aim for an internal temperature of around 130°F; for medium, aim for around 140°F).
  6. Rest the Roast:
    • Once the roast reaches your desired level of doneness, remove it from the air fryer and let it rest for 10-15 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute and keeps the roast tender.
  7. Slice and Serve:
    • Slice the roast against the grain for the most tender slices.
    • Serve with your favorite sides, such as roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes, or a salad.

Tips:

  • Meat Thermometer: For the best results, use a meat thermometer to check for doneness.
  • Fat Cap: If your roast has a fat cap, leave it on for extra flavor, or you can trim it based on your preference.
  • Resting Time: Resting the meat is crucial for juiciness, so don’t skip that step!

This recipe should give you a perfectly cooked roast beef with a nice, crisp exterior and tender interior, all thanks to the magic of the air fryer. Enjoy! 😋
